Effect of water/moisture migration in wood preheated by hot press on sandwich compression formation

Abstract By regulating preheating time, effects of water/moisture immigration and distribution in wood on sandwich compression formation were investigated this study. Kiln-dried poplar was first immersed water to result high moisture content (MC) layers surfaces. These specimens then conditioned at room temperature sealed plastic bags preheated with hot press platens 180 °C drive into wood. Wood for 10–600 s contained one two MC all the time. Extended time moved from surfaces center. Mechanical pressure resulted compressed layer(s) position(s) consistent that before compression. The positions peak(s) both increased exponentially as a function logarithm by led migration therefore controlled distribution, thus promoting softening specific layer(s), which is mainly responsible A logarithmical model can be used predicting developed.
